Russian General Prosecutor demands Vinnik’s extradition

Russian General Prosecutor’s office reiterated its request towards Greece to extradite Russian citizen Alexandr Vinnik, who had been earlier arrested at the request of USA.

The request was sent on the 25th of December, after the Supreme Court of Greece left its decision, considering the Vinnik’s extradition to the United States, standing. The first request, made by Russian’s Prosecutor’s office, is dated by the 18 of August 2017.

«Office of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation intend to strain after A. Vinnik’s extradition to the territory of Rusian Federation and forwarded the corresponding request to the Ministy of Justice, Transparency and Human rights of Greek Republic”, – says the prosecutor’s statement.

Alexandr Vinnik was arrested in Greece on the 25th of July, 2017. He faces up to 55 years in prison for money laundering of $4 (some sources say $9) bln via cryptocurrency exchange  BTC-e.

In Russia, Vinnik is supervened for fraudulent actions worth 700 thousand rubles. Greek Supreme Court admits the validity of both requests, but still, incline to meet the demands of USA. The final decision will be after the Greek minister of Justice.
