A research carried out by Yandex multinational corporation has revealed that this year Kazakhstani Internet users has started searching information about cryptocurrency-related terms in the web several times more frequently than before, as reported by zakon.kz outlet.
The research has indicated the surges of search interest in June and September 2017 when Kazakhstanis were questioning Yandex “what is bitcoin/blockchain/ICO/mining?” many times more frequently than usual. The research report notes that “what is bitcoin” Yandex search request was the most frequent one in December 2017, after bitcoin price hitting $20 000 threshold.
Other popular search requests include: “can students work for bitcoins?”, “printing bitcoins”, “what is blockchain in simple terms for dummies?” and “which are the cryptocurrency mining operators that do actually pay?”.
Meanwhile, the users of Yandex in Kazakhstan have been using “cryptocurrency” word in their online search 15 times more often than in 2017. “Graphics cards for mining” requests were 10 times more frequent than last year.
“Bitcoin” and “ICO” words tended to appear 7 and 4 times more often respectively as compared to early 2017.
As announced by the International Financial Center Astana in November 2017, the organization is interested in launching a fiat-based “crypto-tenge” upon settling the deal with a Malta-based financial broker. Kazakhstan has also been looking into the possibilities of cryptocurrency licensing and blockchain lobby formation.
