Yandex might be up for banning cryptocurrency-related ads

According to some media reports, Yandex, the popular Russian browser, is going to ban all advertisement related to cryptocurrencies, crypto mining and ICOs. Speakers for Yandex have not yet voiced any official comments on the matter.

BitCryptoNews portal was first to come up with the news while referring to a screenshot of a letter from Yandex client service. The news was soon deleted, however.

The screenshot of the letter makes it clear that the browser’s advertisement placement policy does not allow for posting advertisements related to cryptocurrencies, bitcoins and “the topics that emphasize or highlight these issues”.

However, as stated by a number of crypto forum dwellers, such letters are nothing more than a standard answer to advertising companies that were filtered out by moderators. Some did run across similar reaction from Yandex advertisement department, whereas the related formal prohibition is in place since Autumn 2017.

The company’s press office has only stated that Yandex advertisement policy remains unchanged.

As reported earlier, Google and Facebook banned all crypto ads after being pressured by FBI on the matter.
