Russia’s Central Election Commission will digitalize the electoral process

The Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation (CEC) plans to digitalize the electoral process and ensure the accessibility of voting process irrespective of voters’ location. Prime Minister Dmirty Medvedev endorsed CEC’s initiative to join the “Digital Economy” national programme.

The chairman of the CEC Ella Pamfilova believes that digitalization will facilitate the establishment of a unified register for voters. Pamfilova also supports the idea of implementing blockchain in electoral process, which would make the voting system secure from cyber attacks and convenient for voters.

Back in October, the CEC had already voiced its support of the idea of implementing blockchain in election procedures.
