Uzbekistan is planning to launch a blockchain-based state service for selling transport tickets. The country’s president Shavkat Mirziyoyev has already signed a decree on the matter.
Uzbekistani president instructed the government to develop a single electronic portal that would allow its users to purchase plane, bus and train tickets online, as reported by Sputnik news agency. The service is to be based on blockchain.
The new portal will become part of the state’s tourism development programme. The service will supposedly make it easier to purchase convenient connecting flights.
The programme presupposes attracting investments from both state and private sources.
As reported earlier, the European Union (EU) allocated a grant of €10 million to the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The funds are meant to be spent on modernizing the country’s public services system, including the implementation of the blockchain technology.
Moreover, the country’s authorities are already using the distributed ledger technology (DLT) in the sphere of expert assessment and standardization of pharmaceutical products, each medicine having an accompanying electronic certificate that guarantees its quality and authenticity.
