CEO Twitter: Bitcoin will become a common currency of the Internet

While speaking at the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Jack Dorsey, Twitter ans Square Cash CEO, reaffirmed his view that bitcoin has a good chance of becoming a global native currency of the Internet.

“I believe the Internet will have a native currency and I don’t know if it’s Bitcoin. I think it will be [Bitcoin] given all the tests it has been through and the principles behind it, how it was created. It was something that was born on the Internet, was developed on the Internet, was tested on the Internet, [and] it is of the Internet,” – he stated.

Notably, in May 2018, Dorsey had already voiced the same opinion. Back then, he said in an interview with The Times that digital currencies are the future of international payments systems, whereas bitcoin transactions will dominate the Internet payments space in the next 10 years.

While conversing with Joe Rogan, CEO Twitter added that bitcoin facilitates access to financial services. He believes that the world’s first cryptocurrency may eventually become a universally available and usable type of assets. Commenting on the Square Cash’s decision to add bitcoin purchase and sell option, Dorsey noted that, thanks to it, Square is now able to serve more people around the world than they would otherwise through using traditional payments channels.

Dorsey also distinguished Internet users as a separate digital nation which is eventually to adopt its own currency. In this respect, he, again, bets for bitcoin due to its neutrality rooted in its algorithmic nature.

According to Dorsey, bitcoin will keep on developing and remain a number one cryptocurrency in the world.
